Job Description

Role Overview:
The Behavioral Health Technician ensures clients' safety and stability, provides emotional and behavioral support, and helps reinforce therapeutic goals in a structured, recovery-focused environment.•
Core Responsibilities:
1. Client Supervision & Safety Monitor clients' behavior, well-being, and whereabouts to ensure safety. Conduct regular headcounts and room checks. Supervise daily routines, including wake-up, hygiene, meals, and curfew. 2. Support Treatment Goals Reinforce therapeutic objectives and behavioral expectations. Model healthy coping skills and conflict resolution. Support clients during group sessions, recreational activities, and therapy assignments. 3. Documentation & Reporting Complete shift notes, incident reports, and behavioral observations. Communicate changes in mood, behavior, or safety concerns to clinical staff. Track medication administration if trained or permitted (varies by state/facility). 4. Crisis Management & De-escalation Intervene in crises using nonviolent crisis intervention techniques. Support clients through emotional distress while following safety protocols. Escalate issues to clinical or supervisory staff when appropriate. 5. Group Facilitation (as allowed) Lead or co-lead structured activities like life skills training, recovery meetings, or recreational groups. Promote engagement in daily programming. 6. Daily Living Assistance Support clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) if needed (e.g., hygiene, meal prep, chores). Transport clients to appointments or off-site activities if driving is part of the role.
Required Skills & Traits:
Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal boundaries. Ability to handle high-stress situations calmly and effectively. Strong observational and communication skills. Team-oriented with a trauma-informed, client-centered mindset.
