Job Description
The Environmental Health Technician performs routine to moderately complex work in support of the Environmental Health Office. Work involves researching land records, proofreading applications and verifying that all information is correct, and ensuring required legal documents are received with the application. The Environmental Health Technician is responsible for generating monthly reports for Environmental Health, and work involves calculating North Carolina Sewage Rules and Regulations determining sewage flow rates and fees to be charged. This position also receives and processes Environmental Health payments and provides professional and courteous assistance to the public by exercising routine independent judgment and attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of data dissemination.
Associate's degree or a high school diploma and at least two (2) years of experience in a related field with some experience in technical and administrative work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment. Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
