We are pleased to announce that we are looking for Unit Support Technicians to join our new UNC Hospitals Youth Behavioral Health Facility (YBH).

Butner, NC UNC Hospitals Youth Behavioral Health is a 54 bed inpatient psychiatric facility located in Butner, NC. The hospital is composed of 4 units designed to care for child and adolescent patients with a variety of common mental health diagnoses, including those with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In a milieu-based, trauma-informed, therapeutic setting, patients are treated by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Therapy Services, Social Workers, Nursing Services, Pharmacy, Pastoral Care and Nutrition Services. Safety is the key component of the care provided as well as introduction of positive coping skills, healthy living and positive leisure activities. This position requires the ability to attend orientation and training at the UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill. Training will continue at the UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill for several weeks after orientation until the facility in Butner is operational.
Summary:
Assists with patient transport, cleaning equipment, delivering patient food trays, and other administrative tasks as needed.
Responsibilities:
1. Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others and patient safety initiatives. 2. Provides transport of patients for discharge and to other designated areas within the facility. 3. Obtains and cleans equipment as needed/requested by nursing staff. 4. Assists with distribution of food trays/ice water and feeds patients as directed; Makes unoccupied beds as needed. 5. Obtains necessary supplies to set room up for admission and prepares room for discharge cleaning to include removing all linen and trash from the room. 6. Retrieves and transports specimens, supplies and materials to and from departments within the institution. Restocks supply areas within the unit as directed and orders supplies as needed with manager approval. 7. Assists at desk, answering phones, call bells and assists with paper work as time permits. 8. Monitors daily refrigerator temperatures and documents accordingly. Assures proper labeling of stored food in both staff and nutrition refrigerators. 9. Assists with keeping hallways free from obstruction by placing items in storage area and keeping necessary items to one side of hallway.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
BCLS Professional Experience Requirements:
• One to two years previous experience in a Healthcare facility desired.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
