Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Awake Night Mental Health Technician to provide vital support during overnight hours in a behavioral health setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care, with expertise in managing individuals with diverse mental health needs. As an Awake Night Mental Health Tech, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and comfort of patients through vigilant monitoring, crisis intervention, and personalized support during overnight shifts. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring specialized behavioral health services. Responsibilities Monitor patients throughout the night to ensure safety and adherence to treatment plans while maintaining a calm and supportive environment. Conduct regular assessments of vital signs and document medical records accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Implement behavior management strategies and applied behavior analysis techniques to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors. Respond promptly and effectively to crises or emergencies, utilizing crisis management skills to de-escalate situations and provide immediate assistance. Assist with medication administration following prescribed protocols, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to medical terminology standards. Collect data on patient behaviors and progress to inform treatment adjustments and support team decision-making. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical staff, and special education professionals to coordinate care plans tailored to individual needs. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines while managing medical documentation and records efficiently. Requirements Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, behavior management strategies, and addiction counseling methods. Ability to monitor vital signs accurately and understand medical terminology related to behavioral health care. Experience in handling medical documentation, data collection, and maintaining detailed medical records securely. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and team members in high-pressure situations. Certification or training in crisis management, applied behavior analysis (ABA), or special education is advantageous but not mandatory. A compassionate attitude combined with resilience and adaptability to manage overnight responsibilities effectively.
