Behavioral Health Transportation Specialist / Mental Health Technician Do you enjoy being on the road, connecting with people, and knowing your work makes a meaningful difference? Dacotah Foundation is looking for a dependable, positive, and compassionate team member to join us in a unique blended role that combines client transportation with hands-on behavioral health support. Transportation will be the primary focus of this position. You will help clients safely get to appointments, programs, treatment services, and other approved destinations using an agency-provided vehicle. When transportation is not needed, you will join our residential team on the floor as a Mental Health Technician, providing encouragement, support, and connection to the individuals we serve. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, works well independently, and also likes being part of a supportive and collaborative team. No two shifts will look exactly the same! Typical Schedule We are currently looking for people available for the following consistent daily shifts: 7:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. What You'll Do As our Transportation Specialist, you will: Safely transport clients to appointments, treatment services, program activities, and other approved destinations Create a welcoming, respectful, and supportive experience during each ride Communicate transportation updates and concerns with program staff Complete transportation logs and required documentation Help keep the agency vehicle clean, fueled, and ready for the next trip Confidently drive in changing North Dakota weather Don't worry—we provide the vehicle! When transportation needs are quiet, you will step into the Mental Health Technician role and: Build positive and professional relationships with clients Support individuals working toward recovery, independence, and personal goals Assist with daily routines, independent living skills, and community involvement Offer encouragement, supportive listening, redirection, and de-escalation when needed Help maintain a safe, respectful, welcoming, and recovery-focused environment Encourage participation in treatment, recovery activities, and healthy coping strategies Complete required documentation and communicate important information with the team Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, flexible, and comfortable connecting with people from many different backgrounds. You understand that recovery looks different for everyone and believe individuals deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, patience, and compassion. We would especially love to meet candidates who have: Experience in behavioral health, human services, substance use treatment, mental health services, residential care, or a related field An understanding of person-centered, recovery-oriented, and harm reduction approaches The ability to remain calm, respectful, and supportive during challenging situations Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and healthy professional boundaries The ability to work independently while also being a dependable team player A positive attitude and willingness to jump in wherever support is needed Driving Requirements Because transportation is the primary responsibility of this position, applicants must: Have a valid driver's license Maintain an acceptable driving record Meet Dacotah Foundation's automobile insurance requirements Be comfortable driving in a variety of weather and road conditions Be able to safely operate an agency-provided vehicle Why Join Us?
