Job Description

Excel Treatment Center is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and motivated Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping individuals recovering from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, structured, and supportive treatment environment while working alongside counselors, nurses, providers, and operations staff to help clients succeed in treatment. What You'll Do Monitor client safety and maintain awareness of client whereabouts. Observe, document, and report client behaviors in the electronic medical record (EMR). Assist with intakes, orientations, and discharge procedures. Collect urine drug screens in accordance with company policy. Encourage participation in groups and treatment activities. Provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to clients throughout the day. Conduct client outreach to promote attendance and engagement in treatment. Complete environmental rounds and report maintenance or safety concerns. Assist with transportation using company vehicles when needed. Respond appropriately to medical and behavioral emergencies. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. Work collaboratively with the clinical, medical, and operations teams. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. One year of behavioral health, healthcare, or human services experience preferred. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. CPR certification (or willingness to obtain). Strong communication and documentation skills. Ability to remain calm in crisis situations and work effectively as part of a team. Knowledge of recovery principles and trauma-informed care is a plus.
