Job Description
The RTF Youth Mentor serves as the primary child care worker for the resident and his/her family while residing in the residential facility. The function of the mentor is to guide and assist the resident and their family in reaching the goals of their individual and family treatment.
Qualifications:
(At a minimum)- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field and internship experience with children OR
- Associate degree or sixty credit hours from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field OR
- High school diploma and 1-year experience in the mental health field working with children/adolescents.

Obtain PA State Police Clearance, FBI Clearance, and Child Abuse Clearance Essential Functions:
- Develop therapeutic relationships with all residents and families
- Formulate/revise treatment plans and crisis plans as required
- Implement individual treatment plans
- Guide and assist resident and family in goal attainment and maintenance
- Provide individual and group counseling
- Must keep work space clean and organized throughout each shift
- Dispense medication as prescribed and document as required
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques when needed
- Enforce house rules and natural consequences
- Model and teach appropriate living and socialization skills
- Escort and supervise the child on community activities
- Transport residents when necessary
- Chart progress notes for each resident before leaving shift
- Document shift activities in daily log book before leaving shift
- Compose daily, weekly and monthly treatment summaries as required
- Maintain resident's charts
- Ensure house is clean, organized and safe
- Meeting competencies including: job knowledge, planning & organizational skills, quality and quantity of work, dependability and promptness, written and oral communication skills, cooperation and collaboration, initiative, & use of professional ethics and compliance
- Constantly monitor safe storage, disposal and administration of prescribed and over-the-counter medication
- Constantly monitor safe storage and use of hazardous materials and situations e.g. cleaning supplies, gasoline, lawn equipment, lighters, matches, knives, razors, scissors, etc.
- Constantly monitor use of safety equipment and techniques in hazardous situations e.g. safety glasses, cleaning, lawn care, etc.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions to Unit Coordinator
- Attend to basic living needs, skills, and entitlements
- Serve three meals and two snacks daily
- Model appropriate meal and snack preparation and clean-up
- Monitor daily hygiene
- Plan and monitor the daily treatment and leisure activities schedule
- Meet with school, medical personnel and other service agencies as necessary
- Attend all meetings relative to the residents' treatment
- Advocate for the child and family
- Complete all required documentation for your position and necessary documentation for resident's treatment;
- As a mandated reported you will be required by Law to report any suspected child abuse;
- Complete all necessary Emergency Safety Intervention Reports, Recordable Reports, Reportable Reports, and Child-Line Reports;
- Communicate effectively and professionally - verbal and writing skills;
- Attend weekly staffing meetings with facility Psychiatrist and treatment team;
- Attend any supervision requested or required by the Clinical Director;
- Attend all required trainings, 40 hours per year required;
- Must keep work space clean and organized throughout each shift;
- Use of best practice approaches;
- Communicate effectively and professionally - verbal and writing skills;
- Establish and maintain positive professional relationships;
