08/12/2026 UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor is excited to welcome a passionate and driven Crisis Technician I to our Crisis Residential Unit (CRU) team! Safe Harbor's Crisis Residential Unit (CRU) is an 8-bed facility designed to provide an alternative to inpatient behavioral health care. Our multidisciplinary team-comprising registered nurses, CRNPs/PAs, master's level therapists, technicians, and a discharge specialist-works collaboratively to offer comprehensive services such as medication management, therapeutic support (both group and individual), and essential referrals for ongoing care. As our ideal candidate, you will possess a high school diploma and bring a strong desire to learn. While prior experience in behavioral health or crisis- related settings is a plus, it is not required. We will provide comprehensive training upon hire to ensure your success in this role! Responsibilities:
Assisting with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living): Help with task like mobility and medication management. Participating in
Multidisciplinary Activities:
Attend staff meetings and collaborate with other professionals within the business unit. Work with crisis care staff, program staff, and physicians to create treatment plans. Use a client-centered, strength-based approach for stability. Act as a member of the recovery team , providing direct care to patients and families by following CSSP principals, recovery and rehabilitation models of care
Documentation and Safety:
Meeting accurate documentation and records. Ensure safety in the therapeutic environment. High school diploma or equivalent. B.S. degree preferred. Crisis experience preferred. Provide direct total physical care to unpredictable, potentially violent mentally ill residents including lifting, supporting, running toward or away from areas where problems are occurring, and pushing or pulling equipment. Excellent interpersonal relations and disposition that is warm, friendly, caring, kind, and hospitable toward consumers and colleagues. Flexible schedule; rotating shifts. May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients. Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Act 31 or Act 126 - must be obtained within 90 days.
