This position will help support our established Meds to Beds program. Monday - Friday, daylight hours! This is a unique opportunity in a specialized role within the pharmacy that works in collaboration with nurses, prescribers, case managers, social workers and pharmacists to support medication transitions for patients discharging from the hospital. Responsibilities:
Filling Assist in filling medication orders and preparing oral/injectable medications, including hazardous drugs. Distribution Distribute medications, retrieve discontinued ones, and maintain service relationships. Investigational Handle procurement, storage, preparation, and distribution of investigational drugs. General Communicate with hospital personnel, ensure safe storage of medications, maintain a clean work environment, use computer skills for patient records, and comply with regulations. Manage inventory, update automated stations, and assist in training. Controlled Substances Maintain and audit controlled substance records, ensuring compliance. Additional Duties Perform other assigned duties and adhere to system-wide competencies. Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required AND one of the following: Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program Six months of previous pharmacy technician experience Six months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within the UPMC Health System Enrollment in a college program and in good standing
