  • 8/9/2026 The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider an employment opportunity with our school. We are looking for two dynamic and meticulous candidates to fill the Student Life Technician positions in Ogden. These positions involves working with residential students at the Deaf School.
  • Work Schedule in coordination with the school year, August
  • June, 5 nights a week.
Grave Shift:
Sunday 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., and
Swing Shift:
Monday through Thursday 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., and available to substitute for other Student Life Technicians.
  • Key Responsibilities Roles and Responsibilities As a Student Life Technician you will: Helps to monitor and consequate behavior as prescribed by written interventions.
Records corresponding data. Helps students increase independence in eating, dressing, toileting, communication and leisure skills. Reports student progress to staff and parents as needed. Communicates with parents and teachers. Follows prescribed procedures in emergency situations. Reports medical problems to medical staff and assists in rendering emergency and maintenance health care under the Direction of a registered nurse. Supervises students in the cottages and on activities. Transports students (some may be in wheelchairs) to and from meals and activities. Transfers and carries students with limited mobility as needed. Provides basic custodial care of facilities, does laundry and dishes. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Requirements The ideal candidate will possess or eligibility of: American Sign Language (ASL) skills required. Have experience dealing with students with behavior challenges, taking data and tracking behavior. MANDT training or Crisis Prevention Training will be provided by this agency prior to working with students. Must comply with a strict level of confidentiality. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively. Successful completion of a criminal background check is contingent upon employment. Supplemental Information There are risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g., being subject to possible physical attack. (Risks are related to the possibility of working with students who are non-compliant, self-abusive, and/or aggressive.) This position has strenuous physical requirements such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities and recurring heavy lifting of students with limited mobility and/or their special needs equipment.
