  • San Antonio is a residential treatment center located in downtown San Antonio that serves adolescent females, ages 13-17, with complex behavioral and medical needs .
The campus features 25 patient beds , a behavioral unit , dedicated spaces for trauma-informed therapy, education, and vocational skill development, and 24-hour nursing support . Through the True North program, our multidisciplinary team provides structured, individualized care that helps residents build stability, strengthen coping skills, and work toward meaningful medical and behavioral progress. Position Summary The Mental Health Technician (MHT) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate, structured, and trauma-informed care to residents within a residential treatment center. Under the administrative direction of the MHT Manager and the clinical supervision of licensed clinical staff, the Mental Health Technician supports therapeutic programming, ensures resident safety, and fosters a healing environment that promotes recovery, personal growth, and the emotional, behavioral, and social development of residents. Key Responsibilities Provide direct supervision and care to residents, ensuring safety, comfort, and engagement in therapeutic activities Help maintain daily structure and ensure residents follow schedules and program expectations Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, grooming, and meal support, while promoting dignity and independence Transport residents to appointments, clinics, labs, treatments, and other programmed activities as needed Implement and reinforce individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team Facilitate milieu-based activities such as community meetings, recreation, and skill-building groups Respond promptly and effectively to crisis situations using approved de-escalation techniques Maintain accurate, timely documentation of resident behaviors, interventions, and progress notes Advocate for residents needs and support communication between residents and the treatment team Promote a safe, respectful, therapeutic environment that supports emotional growth, resilience, and recovery Participate in team meetings, audits, trainings, and quality improvement efforts Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, strong boundaries, and a commitment to Nexus values in every interaction
Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
AA/BA/BS
in Psychology, Education, or related social service field (preferred)
Experience:
One (1) year of experience in behavioral health, residential care, or a human services field, or at least 2 years of college education (required) Experience in residential care or mental health treatment (preferred)
Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills, emotional resilience, and ability to maintain professional boundaries Proficiency in de-escalation techniques Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication Strong computer skills and comfort with electronic health record documentation Knowledge of healthcare terminology Licensure /
Certification:
First Aid and CPR De-escalation training within 30 days of hire Maintain all required certifications in good standing throughout employment Nexus Core Values (GOPTIC) Genuine
