Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Technician to join our behavioral health team. The ideal candidate will assist in providing quality patient care, support behavioral management, and contribute to a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals with various mental health conditions, and behavioral challenges. This role involves working closely with patients across different age groups, adults only, to promote recovery and well-being in a safe and enjoyable living environment. Duties Monitor and observe patients' behavior to identify changes or signs of distress, utilizing skills in crisis intervention and crisis management. Assist with intake procedures, medical documentation, and maintaining accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to protocols. Conduct vital signs assessments and collect data for behavioral health evaluations. Assist in implementing behavior management plans, including applied behavior analysis techniques for individuals with mental health diagnosis. Provide patient care by assisting with daily activities, promoting independence, and supporting therapeutic interventions such as de-escillation techniques based on individuals service plan. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs. Engage in special education strategies when working with individuals requiring educational support. Maintain a safe environment by recognizing potential safety hazards and responding appropriately to emergencies or behavioral crises. Document all interactions thoroughly, ensuring compliance with medical terminology standards and confidentiality requirements. Skills Experience working with individuals with Mental Health diagnosis is highly desirable. Strong crisis intervention and crisis management skills to de-escalate challenging situations effectively, and/or the willingness to be trained in these skills. Knowledge of behavior management techniques highly desirable. Ability to assist in vital signs assessments and understand medical terminology related to behavioral health. Proficiency in medical documentation, data collection, and maintaining accurate medical records while adhering to HIPAA guidelines. Excellent communication skills for working collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Compassionate approach with a focus on patient-centered care and recovery support. Ability to handle sensitive situations involving addiction counseling or mental health crises professionally and discreetly. Familiarity with medical records systems and intake procedures is preferred.
