Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Neurodiversity-affirming Respite Care Provider to support individuals with diverse neurodevelopmental profiles, including autism and other cognitive disabilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful environment that celebrates neurodiversity. This role involves providing personalized care, facilitating engaging activities, and ensuring safety while promoting independence and well-being. The Respite Care Provider will work closely with clients, families, and support teams to deliver high-quality, person-centered care that affirms each individual's unique identity and strengths. Duties Provide individualized respite care tailored to each client's needs, preferences, and communication styles. Engage with neurodivergent individuals with unique communication support needs. Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) Support clients in developing social skills and engaging in meaningful recreational activities that promote growth and independence. Maintain clear and respectful communication with clients, families, and support teams to ensure consistent care delivery. Adhere to all health and safety protocols, including first aid and CPR procedures, to ensure client safety at all times. Foster an inclusive environment that respects neurodiversity and promotes self-advocacy among clients. Skills Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders. Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health strategies for supporting diverse learners. Strong background in caregiving best practices. Effective communication skills for client interaction and collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams. Certification in first aid and CPR is required to ensure preparedness for emergencies. Ability and excitement around engaging with energetic kiddos and individuals!
