Job Description

Connecting people to developmental and behavioral health services to create opportunities for healing, growth, and recovery. Our organization provides services designed to help members of our community achieve their individual goals. MPNN BH has over 60 distinct programs to aid and support all ages and many situations. Job Summary Under general supervision, employee is responsible for direct care and monitoring of individuals in the transitional living facility. Employee will identify behaviors, situations or physical conditions that obstruct safety and security. Delivers all services according to a recovery-based philosophy of care to create an environment of safety and security. Critical component of job is to possess strong interpersonal skills. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in contact with staff individuals, families, and service providers. Schedules include both day and night shifts. Will be required to transport persons served in the MPNN BH vehicle. Reports to the Residential Manager. Job Responsibilities Contributes knowledge of best practice safety and security techniques to individuals and staff. Assists in implementing treatment plans; to include training on food preparation, household chores, and laundry; assists in menu preparation and the planning of scheduled activities to include recreational, social and vocational skill building. Contributes to overall safety and security by utilizing intervention techniques when individuals demonstrate acts of aggression, provides first aid and CPR interventions, and assist with carrying out crisis plans as needed. Documents accurately and timely in electronic health record. Follows policies and procedures during crisis stabilization medical, behavioral, and fire emergencies. Provides information to individuals within agency directly associated with residents. Ensures safety compliance with Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services(DBHDS) regulations for the facility to include kitchen and laundry facilities. Answers telephone calls, making decisions with consideration of individual safety and security, and reports such actions to on-coming staff and supervisors, according to internal and external guidelines. Performs routine infection control techniques. Acts as advocate for individual and program in community. Maintains records related to service delivery according to applicable ethical requirements and the requirements of the MPNN BH and other regulatory agencies (federal, State, and other). Participates in professional development training, seminars, and conferences pertaining to the operation of MPNN BH clinical services. Other Duties, as assigned Job Requirements Essential Must pass all required Background Checks. Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License with reliable transportation and driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier. Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results within 30 days of employment, and yearly thereafter as required by licensing authority. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent, and 1 to 2 years related experience in a medical or psychological field, involving work with individuals diagnosed with severe mental illness or Co-Occurring disorder, preferably with an emphasis on the safety and security of individuals, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skilled and abilities.
