Optimus Healthcare is looking to add an APRN to our school based program. This position will work at two elementary schools, Monday to Friday 8:00-3:30 and participate in a telephonic call rotation and a saturday rotation ( 9:00 am -1:00 pm).this position is part-time and follows the school calendar with the exception of the rotations for call and saturdays.
The school based APRN will:
Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients. Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed. Perform complete physical exam and records findings in electronic medical record. Collaborates with physicians as needed in managing the acute and long-term medical needs of the patients. Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention. Administer medications and injections as needed. Interview and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs. Instruct patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provides patient education. Maintain and review patients records, charts, and other pertinent information. Posts tests and examination results. Triage patient telephone calls and provides consultation and appropriately refers patients to additional needed services. Attend required meetings and participates in committees as requested. Participate in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. Maintain patient confidentiality.
EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and successful completion of an approved Nurse Practioner program.
EXPERIENCE
One-three years experience in the area of pediatrics and / or adult medicine.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Bi-lingual skills in Spanish preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice, and medical care to give and evaluate patient care. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care. Skill in taking medical history to assess medical conditions and interpret findings. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence using current electronic media. Skill in developing and maintaining quality control/assurance standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly. Working for
