The Certified Nurse Midwife will provide independent, comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care. The CNM will manage the labor including admissions, assessments of maternal/fetal status, and delivery. Major Job Duties & Responsibilities Demonstrates the communication by clearly conveying information and ideas through appropriate mechanisms in a way that engages people and helps them understand and retain the message. Demonstrates ability to make patients and their needs a primary focus of one's actions; developing and sustaining productive patient relationships. Demonstrates safety by familiarizing him or herself with policies and procedures, practicing personal and patient and equipment safety consistently and reporting any and all safety hazards/unusual patient or administrative occurrences that may have effect on patient and/or staff's wellbeing. Demonstrates ability to set high standards of performance for self and others; assumes responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; self imposing standards of excellence rather than having standards imposed. Performs head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy.

This includes:

maternal, fetal, neonate, and the general population considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age. Caring for women during childbirth including monitoring the mother and fetus during labor, assessing labor progress, managing complications, assisting with pain management, performing episiotomies if needed, and delivering the newborn and placenta. Actively seeks opportunities to offer task assistance to all CPMC Team Members as appropriate. Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts processes and care plan to ensure optimal patient care and documents per policy. Administers medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition. Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors. Performs First Assist on cesarean sections or surgeries.
