Music Therapist Description:

The Music Tree of Boston's mission is to provide high-quality music education and music therapy to students and clients of all ages and abilities. We offer in-home, in-person music lessons and music therapy services in the Boston and Metrowest areas, predominantly in the town of Natick. We have clients in many neighboring towns, with potential for group work in towns North of Boston We are looking for a skilled music therapist and aplished musician to join our team, for per diem individual and group work, traveling to client's homes and program centers in the city of Boston, Natick, Framingham, Sherborn, Needham, Westwood, Weston, Newton, Watertown, Brookline, and possibly other areas as needed. This music therapist must be reliable, personable, charismatic, energetic, amicable, flexible, willing tomit to our growingmunity of musicians, and must own a car with a valid registration and driver's license. Qualifications:

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT

Music therapist must own a car and have proof of a valid drivers license and current car registration.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a music therapy client caseload of various ages and abilities
• Create individualized music therapy client session plans
• Maintain client notes, addressing short-term and long-term goals
• Ability to write music therapy assessments preferred
• Ability and willingness to include other artistic modalities preferred
• Ownership of music therapy instruments to include in sessions, such as guitars, keyboards, and percussion instruments
• Create/collaborate on music therapy group curriculum for early intervention and early childhood age clients
• Manage client and parent/family dynamics effectively, ensuring a positive therapy environment and experience
• Drive to client's homes and/or program-sites while following given therapy schedule in a timely manner
• Attend supervision and team meetings remotely, 1-4 times per month
• Attend student recital days 2+ times per academic year, for adaptive music students
• Participate and actively engage in "New In-Home Music Therapy Training "

Hours:

• Weekdays with flexible hours depending on clients and group needs (current clients are scheduled on Wednesday
• Fridays, from around 11am
• 6pm)

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Music Therapy and/or Master's of Mental Health Counseling degree, or equivalent, and/or MT-BC is required (new graduates working towards their certification will be considered)
• At least 3 years of music therapy experience preferred
• Experience and interest working with kids and adults with developmental disabilities
• Willingness to work with clients of all ages and abilities, from age 6 months to adults
• Experience in group music therapy work, and writing group curriculum preferred
• Strong musicianship skills, multi-instrumentalist preferred, with piano, guitar, voice, percussion instrumentpetencies
• Strongmunications skills
• Reliable time management skills
• Early childhood music education experience preferred
• Ability and willingness to offer adaptive music lessons for students with special needs preferred
