Job Description

This position is for Houston and the surrounding areas. We are seeking a Licensed / Board-Certified Music Therapist to provide engaging, individualized music therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults with special needs . This role is ideal for a creative, client-centered therapist who enjoys working across developmental, cognitive, physical, emotional, and communication goals through music-based interventions. Therapists may provide services in person, virtually, or a hybrid of both , based on availability and client needs. This position is a 1099 independent contractor role . Therapists are responsible for maintaining their own licensure, insurance, and tax obligations. Responsibilities Provide individualized music therapy sessions to clients with special needs in home, community, or virtual settings Develop and implement treatment plans aligned with client goals and care plans Utilize music-based interventions to address: Communication and expressive skills Emotional regulation and coping skills Cognitive functioning and attention Social skills and engagement Motor planning and coordination Document sessions accurately and on time Collaborate with caregivers and families Maintain professional, ethical, and trauma-informed care practices Adapt sessions for telehealth delivery when applicable Qualifications Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) required Active state license (if applicable in your state) Experience working with special needs populations (autism, developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health needs, etc.) Comfortable providing services in person and/or via telehealth platforms Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills CPR/First Aid Certification Ability to work independently as a 1099 contractor Preferred (Not Required) Familiarity with goal-based documentation (SOAP notes, progress reports)
