Duties Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort. Operate advanced imaging equipment such as PET scanners and DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scanners to capture high-quality images. Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely following aseptic techniques and established safety protocols. Conduct diagnostic evaluations by analyzing images for clarity, accuracy, and completeness, collaborating with physicians as needed. Maintain detailed records of procedures, patient information, and radiation doses to ensure compliance with safety standards. Assist in performing specialized scans like DEXA scans for bone density assessment and PET scans for metabolic activity analysis. Uphold strict infection control practices using aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety during all procedures. Skills Strong knowledge of nuclear medicine principles, including radiopharmaceutical handling and radiation safety. Proficiency in operating medical imaging equipment such as PET scanners and DEXA machines. Solid understanding of physiology and anatomy to accurately interpret scan results. Excellent grasp of medical terminology relevant to diagnostic imaging and nuclear medicine procedures. Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations with attention to detail, ensuring high-quality imaging outcomes. Familiarity with aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during procedures. Effective communication skills to educate patients and collaborate with healthcare teams seamlessly.
