Job Description
At Merrimack Health , we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range is $43.56 (Min) - $65.34 hourly (Max), excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth. As the Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs routine and emergency Nuclear Medicine procedures on patients for physician interpretation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient care assessment and implementation. Collects information by interview, from the patient, family, significant others and/or health care providers. Completes assessments by utilizing the medical record and Nuclear Medicine requisitions to ensure appropriateness of procedures ordered. Intervenes appropriately in preventing potential problems/complications. Establishes appropriate and effective communication with the patient and/or family member in order to complete the procedure. Implements departmental and facility standards by following established policies and procedures. Demonstrates an empathetic approach. Provides thorough and accurate documentation in the medical record documenting the use of radiopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical and any adverse reaction to any drug administered. Manages and communicates information through various processes, which include telephone, paging systems and computers. Demonstrates necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care and service for patient according to the department of Nuclear Medicine's established policies and procedures. See skill record check list. Accurately prepares the room and patient for the procedure, assuring all needed equipment is available prior to the start of the exam. Properly identifies oneself and properly identifies the patient prior to the start of the procedure. Follows established policies and procedures for reporting and documenting equipment problems. Notifies appropriate supervisory personnel of supply shortages, unusual problems or situations within the department, messages from other departments or Nuclear Medicine staff, and/or changes in patient scheduling. Readily and willingly contributes to the team approach, in order to provide the best possible patient care and services. Practices established radiation protection and safety protocols for self, staff and patients with 100% accuracy. Uses proper radiation safety techniques (Time/Distance/Shielding) to minimize exposure. Understands the psychosocial issue(s) that impact patients and their families throughout the life cycle.EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE
Required:
Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and other hospital personnel. Registered as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by either ARRT, NMTCB or any other certifying agency acceptable to the Massachusetts Licensing Board.
