Nuclear Medicine Technologist - RWJBarnabas Health $12,000 Sign On Bonus At RWJBarnabas Health, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist plays a critical role in diagnostic imaging and patient care. Working with precision and attention to detail, they perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures, prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, and ensure adherence to radiation safety and quality control standards. They are responsible for accurately executing imaging protocols while providing a safe, compassionate, and reassuring experience for every patient. A typical day for a Nuclear Medicine Technologist may include: Performs nuclear medicine imaging procedures according to established protocols and physician orders

Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately for diagnostic procedures

Operates nuclear medicine imaging equipment and ensures the production of high-quality diagnostic images

Reviews patient information, clinical history, and prescribed examinations to determine appropriate imaging techniques and protocols

Explains procedures to patients, answers questions, and provides clear instructions to promote patient understanding and cooperation

Ensures proper patient identification, preparation, positioning, and comfort throughout nuclear medicine examinations

Adheres to radiation safety practices and regulatory requirements to protect patients, staff, and visitors from unnecessary radiation exposure

Performs required quality control procedures on imaging equipment and reports equipment concerns or malfunctions appropriately

Accurately documents radiopharmaceutical administration, imaging procedures, patient information, and other required clinical documentation

Monitors patients throughout procedures and responds appropriately to changes in patient condition or unexpected reactions

Maintains a clean, organized, and properly stocked imaging environment while following department policies and infection prevention standards
