Responsibilities Prepare and position patients for nuclear medicine and PET scans, ensuring comfort and safety throughout the procedure Operate medical imaging PET scanners Follow radiation safety protocols diligently to protect patients, staff, and yourself from unnecessary exposure Administer radiopharmaceuticals via IV insertion following aseptic techniques and proper handling procedures Conduct diagnostic evaluations by capturing high-quality images and adjusting equipment settings as needed Maintain accurate documentation within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) Monitor patient physiology during procedures, providing patient care that emphasizes comfort, communication, and safety Ensure compliance with radiation safety procedures and uphold all institutional policies for radiation protection and equipment operation Qualifications Certification and licensure as a Nuclear Medicine/PET Technologist Proven experience operating nuclear medicine imaging equipment including PET scans Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic radiology principles necessary for accurate image acquisition and interpretation support Demonstrated ability to perform IV insertions independently with aseptic technique and manage radiation safety procedures effectively Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and PACS for image management and documentation Basic life support (BLS) certification required Strong understanding of medical imaging protocols, diagnostic evaluation processes, and technical proficiency in operating complex medical equipment
