Tidelands Health system - Georgetown and Murrells Inlet, South Carolina In years past in the charming town of Georgetown, South Carolina, a vision was born. It was 1950 when Tidelands Health first opened its doors, beginning its journey with just over 130 beds. Back then, the goal was simple yet profound: to provide top-notch care in all major specialties to the community that surrounded them. Fast forward more than 20 years, and Tidelands Health had expanded its reach. The newly built 125-bed Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet marked a significant milestone in their story. But the journey didn't stop there. Recognizing the need for comprehensive care, two rehabilitation hospitals were added, offering 69 beds spread across two locations. The vision extended further into the bustling Myrtle Beach market, where 70 clinic locations now thrive. As Tidelands Health continued to grow, they always kept an eye on the future. Plans are already in motion to add a new hospital by 2028, along with several expanded multi-specialty outpatient locations, ensuring they meet the ever-increasing healthcare needs of their community. Through all these years of growth and expansion, Tidelands Health has remained steadfast in its non-profit, community-focused mission. Guided by a dedicated Board of Trustees, all rooted in the local area, they hold a special place in their hearts for the wellbeing of their own families and friends. With an unwavering commitment to providing the best possible care, their service area is set to grow to over 600,000 people. This is the story of Tidelands Health—a tale of dedication, growth, and an enduring promise to the community they proudly serve.
