Job Description
Physician / Nurse Practitioner -
Conduct weekly follow-up visits for residential patients, regardless of whether they are actively experiencing withdrawal symptoms.
Evaluate and manage patients' general medical needs and co-occurring conditions.
Assess and monitor withdrawal symptoms when applicable.
Provide medical oversight and appropriate treatment for patients with substance use disorders.
Apply knowledge of medication-assisted treatment (MAT), including medications such as buprenorphine and naltrexone.
Participate in medication management and ongoing treatment planning.
Coordinate patient care with on-site clinical staff, nursing staff, counselors, and other members of the treatment team.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with applicable requirements.
Exercise independent clinical judgment and decision-making regarding patient care.
Provide medical consultation and guidance to facility staff as needed.
Follow applicable clinical, regulatory, and facility standards.
Utilize physician/addiction medicine support when clinically appropriate.
Patient Population & CaseloadResidential treatment facility with a maximum capacity of 20 beds.
Current average census is approximately 10-12 patients, although census can fluctuate significantly.
Provider will conduct weekly follow-up visits for all residential patients.
Patient needs may include substance use disorders, withdrawal management, MAT, and co-occurring medical conditions.
QualificationsActive, unrestricted Alaska medical license.
Candidates may be either:
MD/DO, orNurse Practitioner (NP).DEA registration required.
CPR certification required for on-site work; this may be completed after accepting the position if necessary.
TB testing required for on-site work; this may also be completed after accepting the position if necessary.
Must be able to maintain an active Alaska license throughout the engagement.
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently in a residential/community-based setting.
Reliable ability to work on-site at the facility on a weekly basis.
Preferred QualificationsBackground or experience in Addiction Medicine.
Understanding of medication-assisted treatment (MAT).Board certification or eligibility in Addiction Medicine or Family Medicine.
Experience with patients experiencing substance use disorders.
Familiarity with residential treatment settings.

Schedule & Work ArrangementPart-time, 1099 Independent Contractor.
One day per week on-site.
Day of week, start/end time, and number of hours are flexible based on provider availability and facility needs.
Minimum commitment of 4 hours per week.
Four hours of pay is guaranteed each week regardless of patient volume or time required on-site.
Additional hours may be considered based on fit and coverage needs.
No current full-time need.
No required contract duration; opportunity can be ongoing.
No restrictions on maintaining other clinical practices.
Provider must be available to work weekly.
Clinical Support & Call CoverageOn-site support includes clinical and nursing staff.
Provider will have the ability to make independent decisions regarding patient care.
Addiction medicine physician backup is available at all times.
After-hours coverage, new intakes, holidays, and other remote coverage are handled by a dedicated telehealth medical team.
The on-site provider is not responsible for after-hours, holiday, or intake on-call coverage.
Physician (MD/DO): Starting at $150/hour, with flexibility based on credentials and experience.
Minimum 4 paid hours per week, regardless of patient volume.
Malpractice insurance covered by the organization.
Credentialing costs covered by the organization.
