A Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner provides mental health and nursing care to patients with psychiatric disorders, medical organic brain disorders or substance abuse problems. Diagnoses mental illness, develops treatment plans and prescribes medications. Teaches patient's family about the patient's condition. Works at hospitals with dedicated mental health unit, fully dedicated psychiatric hospital or in independent practice working from nursing homes and physicians' offices.

Job Description
Part-Time Behavioral Health /
Conduct admission evaluations and participate in peer-to-peer reviews when required.
Provide ongoing medical follow-up visits based on client needs.
Evaluate clients for mental, emotional, behavioral, and substance use disorders.
Assess clients for appropriate placement within available treatment programs.
Prescribe medications when clinically appropriate, including medications used to safely manage withdrawal symptoms.
Evaluate, initiate, and adjust medications as clinically indicated.
Participate in insurance peer-to-peer reviews and support authorization requirements.
Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).Collaborate with behavioral health and clinical staff to support comprehensive client care.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA and applicable client confidentiality requirements, including 42 CFR Part 2.Perform other related clinical duties as needed.
QualificationsMD/DO
Board certification in Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, or another applicable behavioral health specialty.
Current DEA license.
Current liability/malpractice coverage.
Experience in substance use treatment, addiction medicine, psychiatry, or behavioral health preferred.
Strong knowledge of psychotropic medications and medication management.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Psychiatric Nurse PractitionerQualified and appropriately licensed to practice in Alaska.
Psychiatric/behavioral health experience strongly preferred.
Experience with substance use treatment and medication management preferred.
Current DEA license and required certifications.
Physician AssistantActive Alaska PA license and required credentials.
Strong behavioral health and/or addiction medicine experience.
Experience with psychiatric assessment and medication management preferred.
Current DEA license and required certifications.
