Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to evaluate respiratory health. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with pulmonary conditions such as asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, and other respiratory disorders. Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations and collaborative practice agreements, ensuring safe administration of inhalers, nebulizers, and other treatments. Perform diagnostic evaluations including spirometry, sonography, and specimen collection to aid in accurate diagnosis and management. Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health records (EHR/Athena), maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide patient education on disease management, lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and smoking cessation strategies to empower self-care. Requirements Current Nurse Practitioner licensure with certification in adult or family practice; experience in pulmonary or critical care preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems; experience with Athenahealth is a plus. Strong clinical skills including physical examinations, diagnostic evaluation, medication administration, and medical documentation. Knowledge of physiology related to respiratory health and familiarity with pulmonary testing procedures like spirometry or sonography. Experience working in outpatient clinics or specialty practices; prior exposure to hospital medicine or ICU settings is advantageous. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
