In this vital role, you will provide expert wound management, advanced wound healing techniques, and comprehensive patient care across diverse clinical settings. Your expertise will help improve patient outcomes, promote healing, and enhance quality of life for individuals with complex wounds. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where innovation and patient-centered care are at the forefront. You will utilize your extensive clinical skills to assess, diagnose, and treat wounds while educating patients and their families on wound care strategies. Duties Conduct thorough assessments of patients' wounds, including measuring, photographing, and documenting progress using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic and eClinicalWorks. Develop personalized wound care plans incorporating advanced techniques such as debridement, suturing, and dermal fillers when appropriate. Administer specialized treatments including Botulinum toxin injections for pain management or aesthetic purposes, IV infusions, and sterile dressing changes following aseptic techniques. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, hospice & palliative medicine, and senior care to coordinate comprehensive wound management strategies. Educate patients and caregivers on wound prevention, dressing techniques, infection control measures, and nutrition to support healing processes. Perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing sonography or laboratory testing when necessary to monitor infection or tissue viability. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while maintaining meticulous medical documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, CPT coding for procedures performed, and ICD-10 coding for diagnoses. Qualifications Current Nurse Practitioner licensure with certification in wound care or related specialty preferred; experience in advanced wound management highly desirable. Proven clinical experience in acute care settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers; hospital experience is essential. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, infection control protocols, and medical terminology relevant to wound healing and skin integrity. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or similar platforms; telehealth experience is a plus. Experience performing procedures such as suturing, catheterization, venipuncture, and sterile dressing changes. Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams including dermatology, infectious disease care, physical therapy, and case management. Excellent patient assessment skills with a focus on critical thinking and problem-solving in complex cases involving diabetic foot ulcers or pressure injuries. Knowledge of CPT coding for billing procedures related to wound treatments; understanding of Workers' compensation law is advantageous.
