Job Description

(Physician/MD qualifications required) Psychiatry (General) - Opportunity to join a non - profit community health group that practices a new model of high-quality healthcare that helps people get and stay healthy. Patient's work with a dedicated team of medical professionals to get the range of services they need, when and where they need them. Responsible for providing quality psychiatric Nurse Practitioner services to patients, at clinic, while working closely with other healthcare staff in a team approach. The Psychiatric APRN provides comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, prescription of drug therapy, planning of treatment, and evaluation of therapy. Provide brief therapy-based interventions as needed. Prescribe psychotropic medications based on clinical indicators. Review medication(s) that patient is currently taking, prior to prescribing to prevent adverse reactions. Provide patient education and advice regarding side effects and dosage adjustments. Monitor and evaluate pharmacological treatment progress. Order appropriate lab tests and interpret results. Review and manage patient information including labs, prescription refills, outside consultation notes, previous medical records, specialist referrals, etc. Provide feedback and consultation to primary care medical providers and other treatment or service providers in the community regarding the behavioral health and|or psychiatric aspects of the patient. Offer specific recommendations related to integrated treatment planning. Prioritize referrals and schedule appointments, providing crisis intervention and follow ups as needed. Refer patients to relevant patient care services in the community as appropriate. Advocate on behalf of patients to obtain services as necessary. Provide education and support to patients and their families to encourage compliance with medical and behavioral regimes. Document all appropriate information in the electronic health record system.
