Full Time/ Permanent Nurse Practitioner opportunity
POSITION SUMMARY
The Nurse Practitioner is a licensed independent practitioner who is responsible for meeting, assessing, and diagnosing patients in our clinic and providing them with healthcare services that meet State and National standards for caregiving. The provider assumes responsibility and accountability for health promotion and maintenance including the use and prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. They will be responsible for prescribing patients with appropriate medication, health regimens and lifestyle adjustments that will contribute to their recovery from diagnosed health issues, prevent future health issues and promote a healthier life.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
(will include, but not be limited to) In this role, the Nurse Practitioner independently performs comprehensive history and physical examinations for perioperative and primary care patients, assessing both normal and abnormal findings. They evaluate and treat acute injuries and illnesses, provide preventive healthcare services, and monitor the effectiveness of interventions. Responsibilities include ordering and interpreting diagnostic and therapeutic tests, prescribing medications, and implementing treatment plans in compliance with standardized procedures, federal and state regulations, and Indian Health Service (IHS) guidelines. Beyond direct patient care, the Nurse Practitioner coordinates follow-up services, including lab work, imaging, specialist referrals, and scheduling of appointments through the Medical Receptionist. They ensure seamless transitions between healthcare settings, managing admissions, transfers, and discharges while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. When cases exceed their professional scope, they consult with the Medical Director or Provider Practice Lead (PPL) and assist in updating clinic protocols as needed. Health education and community engagement are vital aspects of this role. The Nurse Practitioner provides patient and family education on health promotion, risk management, and disease prevention while interfacing with community organizations to identify and connect individuals with necessary resources. They also contribute to staff development by acting as a resource in their area of expertise. To maintain high standards of care, they engage in continuing education, uphold licensure requirements, and participate in quality assurance initiatives, ensuring that patient records adhere to QA guidelines. Additional responsibilities include updating medical forms and clinic protocols, assisting with inventory management, and participating in the Quality Assurance Committee. In the event of public health concerns such as epidemic outbreaks, poisonings, major accidents, or other critical incidents, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible for notifying and coordinating with the Department of Health Services, local health departments, and fire authorities as required. Such occurrences must be reported within 24 hours via telephone, followed by a written confirmation, with an incident report retained on file for one year. Through their expertise and leadership, the Nurse Practitioner plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards and fostering a healthier community.QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master's or Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited program. Must hold an active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the state of California, along with DEA registration and prescriptive authority in California.Preferred Qualifications:
