JOB SUMMARY A

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) plays a critical role in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of mental health conditions. Their responsibilities encompass clinical care, medication management, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure comprehensive psychiatric treatment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to assess mental, emotional, and behavioral health conditions. Perform diagnostic assessments using standardized tools, clinical interviews, and patient history. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessments, patient needs, and best clinical practices. Assess for co-occurring medical and psychiatric disorders to ensure integrated care. Monitor and evaluate treatment effectiveness , adjusting interventions as necessary. Prescribe, adjust, and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with state laws and clinical guidelines. Educate patients and families about medications, potential side effects, risks, and benefits . Monitor for medication compliance, side effects, and drug interactions , ensuring patient safety. Conduct ongoing psychiatric medication evaluations and make dosage adjustments as needed.

SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS

Excellent communication skills to explain complex information in plain language Experience working in the field of mental health, addiction treatment preferred. Ability to work with people of various ethnic, cultural, and educational backgrounds Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations Sound technical, organizational, and priority setting nursing skills Proven leadership skills
