Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner (APRN) Access Healthcare Physicians - Hernando County, FL Access Healthcare Physicians is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our Gastroenterology team. This role supports both outpatient and inpatient GI services, working closely with our Board‑Certified Gastroenterologist to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care. About the Role The APRN will evaluate new and established GI patients, manage a full outpatient clinic schedule, assist with inpatient GI consults at affiliated hospitals, and serve as a clinical point of contact for patients between physician visits. This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and comfort managing common GI conditions independently while collaborating with the supervising physician for complex cases. Schedule & Locations Monday-Friday Combination of outpatient clinic and inpatient rounding Outpatient site: Access Healthcare Gastroenterology office (Hernando County) Inpatient consults: Affiliated Hernando County hospitals Occasional weekend/holiday consult rotation based on practice needs Key Responsibilities Outpatient GI Care Evaluate new and established GI patients Perform focused histories, examinations, and diagnostic planning Manage common GI conditions (GERD, IBS, hemorrhoids, H. pylori, etc.) Collaborate with supervising Gastroenterologist for complex cases (IBD, advanced liver disease, refractory GERD, suspected malignancy, abnormal imaging, post‑procedure complications) Inpatient GI Consults Receive and respond to consults from hospitalists and ED physicians Perform bedside evaluations and develop management plans Discuss each case with supervising Gastroenterologist prior to finalizing consult notes Follow patients through discharge and coordinate transition back to outpatient care Patient Communication & Care Coordination Triage patient messages and calls within defined turnaround times Communicate imaging and pathology results clearly and promptly Manage post‑procedure symptom escalations and determine appropriate next steps Ensure patients receive timely, clinically appropriate responses Documentation & Quality Document encounters accurately and close charts within 24 hours Code visits appropriately based on services rendered Support quality metrics including colorectal cancer screening and value‑based care initiatives Procedure‑Related Support Conduct pre‑procedure evaluations and clearances Assist with post‑procedure recovery rounding when needed Manage anticoagulation planning and bowel prep counseling for high‑risk patients Required Qualifications Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program Active Florida APRN license in good standing National board certification (FNP, AGNP, ACNP) Minimum 2 years post‑licensure clinical experience Experience in gastroenterology, hepatology, or hospital medicine strongly preferred
