Job Description

Position Overview Seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Nurse Practitioner to join a multidisciplinary private practice in Hilo, Hawaii. The role focuses on occupational health, pain management, and patients with workers' compensation and no-fault motor vehicle accident claims in an outpatient setting. You will provide comprehensive assessments, manage complex conditions, and (with training if needed) perform procedures such as ultrasound-guided joint injections, trigger point injections, and PRP therapy. Prior procedural experience is welcome but not required; full training will be provided. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments for workers' compensation and no-fault motor vehicle accident cases. Develop, document, and update evidence-based treatment plans in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner. Perform (or learn to perform) ultrasound-guided joint injections, trigger point injections, and PRP procedures. Administer medications and injections while adhering to safety standards, clinic policies, and HIPAA requirements. Utilize EMR/EHR systems (Practice Fusion) for accurate, efficient, and timely documentation. Coordinate patient care, including referrals, discharge planning, case management, and utilization review when appropriate. Provide telehealth visits to expand access to care for patients throughout Hawaii. Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurse practitioners, chiropractors, massage therapists, and acupuncturists. Educate patients on treatment plans, injury recovery, pain management, lifestyle modifications, and long-term wellness strategies. Maintain and advance clinical, procedural, and diagnostic skills, including musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided techniques. Ensure high standards of patient care, professionalism, and communication while supporting a positive team environment. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities within the practice. Qualifications Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license and appropriate national certification, with authority to practice independently in the State of Hawaii. Clinical experience in one or more of the following areas preferred: urgent care, occupational medicine, pain management, family practice, or musculoskeletal medicine. Comfortable conducting comprehensive physical examinations, diagnosing and managing musculoskeletal and pain-related conditions, and developing evidence-based treatment plans. Experience with injections, blood draws (including for PRP procedures), medication administration, and basic diagnostic evaluations preferred. Strong skills in infection control, specimen collection, and general outpatient clinical procedures. Familiarity with workers' compensation and no-fault injury care preferred; willingness to learn applicable regulations, documentation requirements, and case management processes. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced outpatient setting while maintaining excellent bedside manner and clear communication with patients, providers, and staff. Self-motivated, dependable, and able to maintain consistent attendance and professional responsibilities in a busy outpatient practice. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage documentation, follow-up care, referrals, and patient communication in a timely manner. Interest in developing advanced procedural skills, including ultrasound-guided injections and regenerative medicine techniques.
