Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary This is an independent contractor, 1099, role. We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions to diverse patient populations. Responsibilities Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including mental status examinations and diagnostic assessments using ICD-10 coding standards. Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, including psychopharmacology treatments such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, and mood stabilizers. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans. Provide patient education on medication administration, side effects, and behavioral health strategies to promote adherence and recovery. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems for accurate documentation of patient encounters and treatment progress. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss complex cases, discharge planning, and utilization review processes. Engage in telehealth services to extend mental health support across different locations and improve access to care. Skills Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems for efficient medical documentation. Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology principles and medication management strategies. Experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, assisted living residents, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs. Familiarity with clinical research protocols and behavioral health assessment tools. Ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations and vital signs assessment in accordance with medical standards. Skilled in patient assessment techniques such as mental status exams, trauma-informed care approaches, and substance use evaluations. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and secure handling of medical records and sensitive information.
