$50.00-72.39/hr, DOE BHC Management is a Rural Health Clinic with behavioral health serving a primarily Medicare-enrolled patient population. We are seeking a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, and treatment for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. The PMHNP works as part of an interdisciplinary team and serves as a key prescribing clinician for the program. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive initial psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for new and existing clients. Diagnose psychiatric and substance use disorders and develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans. Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, including monitoring efficacy, side effects, and adjusting treatment as clinically indicated. Provide medication management for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) as appropriate. Provide psychotherapy and supportive counseling within scope or coordinate with therapists for therapy services. Perform risk assessments (suicide, self-harm, danger to others) and develop appropriate safety and crisis plans. Collaborate with therapists, nursing staff, and medical providers to coordinate integrated care. Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in the electronic health record consistent with HIPAA and Medicare within 24 hours. Ensure services and documentation meet Medicare medical-necessity standards and support clean claims and billing. Review the Kentucky Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) prior to prescribing controlled substances, as required. Maintain compliance with the collaborative practice agreement and prescriptive protocols established with the collaborating physician. Provide group education on proper medication management, disease, mental health diagnoses. Required Qualifications Master's (MSN) or Doctoral (DNP) degree from an accredited Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. Active, unrestricted Kentucky APRN license, PMHNP with a Psychiatric/Mental Health population focus, issued by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing. Certificate of Prescriptive Authority from the Kentucky State Board of Nursing. DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances (Schedules III-V per Kentucky APRN authority; Schedule II is restricted under Kentucky law), and registration with the governing board of Kentucky.
Medicare enrollment:
Active enrollment as a Medicare provider with a valid National Provider Identifier (NPI), or eligibility and willingness to enroll prior to seeing Medicare patients. Ability to pass a background check and any required health screenings. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a behavioral health, residential or outpatient substance use, or addiction treatment setting. Experience with co-occurring disorders, including buprenorphine prescribing. Familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid documentation and medical-necessity standards. Experience serving older adults and dually eligible (Medicare/Medicaid) populations. Skills & Attributes Strong psychiatric diagnostic and clinical assessment skills across the lifespan. Sound clinical judgment, especially in risk assessment and crisis management. Excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
