Job Description

This is an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) job opening. Both qualified NP and PA applicants will be considered. NPs are directed to apply to job # 277059 and PAs are directed to apply to job # 277060 A total of one (1), 1.0 FTE Advanced Practice Professional (either NP or PA) will be hired to fill this job opening. Provide care for oncology patients in multiple specialties with primary diseases to include GI medical oncology and urologic medical oncology with the potential to expand care for patients with other oncologic conditions Direct care and management of patients in the outpatient setting which includes: performing history and physical, ordering labs and diagnostic testing, development of differential diagnoses, collaboration with the physician to develop a plan of care, provision of patient and family education, counseling and support, collaboration and referral to other services and provision of education to nursing staff, students and the community Management of treatment related toxicities Management of disease related symptoms Review laboratory, pathology and radiographic test results Ongoing monitoring of patients requiring surveillance Participation in tumor board meetings as needed Participation in clinical research, which may include tasks such as screening patients for clinical trials, ordering appropriate tests/labs, monitoring for specific effects or symptoms. Participation in workshops, conferences or other CME activities pertaining to oncology or palliative care Attendance at programmatic meetings or Cancer Center meetings and occasionally attend regional or national meetings This role includes sessions at two clinical sites: The Rogel Cancer Center in Ann Arbor and the Brighton Center for Specialty Care Roles and responsibilities may be periodically adjusted as determined by the needs of the Cancer Center Clinical Program.
NP:
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan Current specialty certification to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan Certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care or Primary Care NP, Adult NP, FNP or Acute NP Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) Current DEA registration required AHA approved BLS >2 years of APP experience
PA:
Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP. Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan. State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required Current DEA registration required AHA Approved BLS >2 years of APP experience

Rogel Cancer Center and Brighton Center for Specialty Care, Blue team primary with possible work with other teams if needed. This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
