Weekend Position Overview:
Henry Ford Health System is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Hospital Medicine team at Henry Ford Detroit. This role focuses on providing comprehensive inpatient care, including completion of history and physicals, progress notes, discharge summaries, daily rounding, timely patient disposition, and performing assessments and reassessments based on changes in patient condition. Providers will work closely with Hospital Medicine physician attendings, Emergency Department and inpatient nursing staff, as well as consulting specialty teams to ensure safe, efficient, and collaborative patient care. This position offers a 12-hour shift schedule with no call requirements, including every other weekend, averaging 2,080 hours annually through a structured schedule of three 12-hour shifts every two weeks and four 12-hour shifts every three weeks. The role provides the opportunity to practice in a high-acuity academic hospital environment while delivering patient-centered care as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team. Qualifications:
NP or PA graduate from an accredited program Current (or in-process) Michigan licensure National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA) BLS required; ACLS required (or obtained after hire) 6 months inpatient experience preferred
Credentials:
Education & Training
  • Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP): Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) Licensure
  • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, in the State of Michigan, or in the process of applying (proof of application required). Certification
PA:
Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
    NP:
    National certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan (e.g., ANCC, AANP) Required Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) - required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - required (may be obtained after hire) DEA /
    Controlled Substance Licensure PA:
    DEA and Michigan Controlled Substance License (CSL) required through credentialing
    NP:
    DEA registration required through credentialing; NPs do not hold a Michigan CSL and will use their Michigan license number during the application process
