Job Description

Overview We are actively seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team on a full-time basis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide immediate, high-quality medical care in a fast-paced urgent care setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background, excellent patient assessment skills, and a passion for delivering compassionate care across diverse patient populations. You will be instrumental in managing acute illnesses and injuries, performing diagnostic evaluations, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes through efficient treatment and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine urgent health concerns. Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries utilizing evidence-based practices and clinical judgment. Perform procedures such as suturing, IV insertion, catheterization, and wound care while maintaining sterile techniques. Manage medication administration, including injections, IV infusions, and botulinum toxin treatments when appropriate. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) system Nextgen Provide triage services for incoming patients to prioritize urgent cases and facilitate timely treatment delivery. Educate patients on health management strategies, including post-treatment care plans and preventive health measures. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain the highest standards of patient confidentiality and safety. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research projects, and staff training to enhance service delivery. Skills Proficiency in performing advanced procedures including suturing, I&D Strong background in acute care settings such as emergency rooms, Level I trauma centers, or hospital medicine units. Knowledge of CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), utilization review, and billing practices related to urgent care services. Critical care experience including ICU or PICU settings enhances the ability to manage complex cases effectively. Familiarity with diverse clinical areas such as primary care and pediatrics Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using laboratory testing and specimen collection/processing techniques. Excellent communication skills for working with children, individuals with disabilities or developmental delays, assisted living residents, or those requiring specialized memory or dementia care. Competence in managing acute pain with appropriate interventions while adhering to infection control protocols. Comfortable treating 25- 40 patients per shift
Experience:
Pediatric, Family Care, or Emergency Medicine experience (preferred) New Graduates accepted
License/Certification:
Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of North Carolina or current unrestricted North Carolina RN license and NP license. Large Pediatric group looking to augment our Wilmington, Jacksonville, Richlands, and Sneads Ferry locations with additional (Nurse Practitioners / Physician Assistants). Advanced Providers will provide acute and preventive care to our pediatric population in Jacksonville and Richlands location. Will be supported by Pediatricians on site and function in a strong collaborative environment. Clinical rotation will include 4.5 days per week, On Call rotation, and 1 weekend/ month. Salary is competitive based on experience with a productivity bonus model.
