09/03/2026 Job Description Job Description Wilmington Health Cardiology offers a well-balanced schedule of outpatient clinic and inpatient care (1:5). Enjoy a collaborative environment including Three General, Two Interventional and One EP Cardiologist and Five Advanced Practitioners. Our Cardiology Nurse Practitioners (NP) or Physician Assistants (PA) plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive cardiovascular care to patients across various clinical settings. They conduct detailed patient assessments, diagnosing cardiovascular conditions, and developing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with cardiologists and multidisciplinary teams. Our Advanced Care Practitioners manage both acute and chronic cardiac conditions, ensuring continuity of care through patient education, follow-up, and coordination of diagnostic testing and interventions. By utilizing evidence-based practices and staying current with advancements in cardiology, our practitioners regularly contribute to improving patient outcomes and quality of life. Our Advanced Care Practitioners are essential in supporting our mission to provide compassionate, efficient, and quality inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular care.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current and unrestricted licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the United States. Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as an NP or PA in Cardiology or outpatient Internal Medicine. Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology. Ability to perform and interpret cardiovascular diagnostic assessments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced certification such as Acute Care NP or Cardiology PA specialty certification. Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telemedicine platforms. Familiarity with clinical research protocols and participation in quality improvement initiatives. Completion of continuing education courses focused on the latest cardiology treatments and technologies.
Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive cardiovascular patient assessments including history taking, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic tests such as EKGs, echocardiograms, and stress tests. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with a range of cardiac conditions including heart failure, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, and hypertension. Collaborate closely with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure adherence to clinical guidelines and protocols. Provide patient education on disease management, lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and preventive cardiology to empower patients in their health journey. Monitor patient progress through follow-up visits, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and facilitate referrals for advanced interventions or specialty care when indicated.

Clinical assessment and diagnostic interpretation skills enable the practitioner to accurately identify cardiac conditions and tailor treatment plans effectively. Strong communication and patient education skills are essential for fostering patient understanding and adherence to therapeutic regimens. Collaboration and teamwork skills facilitate seamless coordination with cardiologists and other healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes. Additionally, proficiency with EHR systems and telemedicine enhances documentation accuracy and expands access to care, while ongoing professional development ensures the practitioner remains current with evolving cardiology practices.
