Outpatient experience Nurse Practitioner (NP) DEA License Advanced practice provider Prescribing medications PMHNP Full Job Description Position Overview Lakesyde Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate and dependable Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our outpatient practice in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The PMHNP will provide psychiatric services to children, adolescents, and adults. Care will primarily be provided at our Las Cruces office, with telehealth available when clinically appropriate. This independent-contractor opportunity offers scheduling flexibility, clinical autonomy, administrative support, and the opportunity to build a patient panel within an established behavioral health practice. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations. Diagnose and treat behavioral and mental health conditions. Provide medication management and ongoing follow-up care. Provide psychotherapy when appropriate and within the practitioner's scope and competency. Maintain complete, accurate, and timely clinical documentation. Follow applicable prescribing and controlled-substance requirements. Coordinate care with therapists, primary care providers, specialists, schools, and other community resources. Make appropriate referrals when additional services are clinically indicated. Comply with HIPAA, payer requirements, professional standards, and practice policies. Qualifications Current, unrestricted New Mexico APRN license with appropriate prescriptive authority. Current PMHNP board certification. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Active DEA registration and any required New Mexico controlled-substance registration. Professional liability insurance of at least $1 million per occurrence and $3 million aggregate. Eligible to participate with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans. Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with the practice's clinical and administrative teams. Experience treating children and adolescents is preferred. Qualified new graduates are encouraged to apply and may receive graduated onboarding and clinical support. Compensation Compensation is based on collected revenue rather than the amount billed. Payments are issued at least monthly with a collections and adjustment report. This is a 1099 independent-contractor position. The practitioner is responsible for applicable taxes, professional licensing expenses, and malpractice insurance. Practice Support Lakesyde Behavioral Health may provide: Credentialing and payer-enrollment support Electronic medical record access Appointment scheduling Billing and collections infrastructure Administrative and medical-assistant support Medication prior-authorization assistance Case-management support Furnished office space and computer equipment Patient referrals Marketing support and business cards Schedule The schedule and patient availability will be arranged by mutual agreement. The practitioner must be available to provide in-person care at the Las Cruces office. Telehealth appointments may be included for patients located in New Mexico.
