Job Description

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists (SOS) is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Orthopedic Urgent Care (SOS Plus) team. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, efficient care to patients presenting with acute musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, supporting access, patient experience, and downstream orthopedic care. The APP will function as a frontline provider , working collaboratively with orthopedic surgeons and clinical staff to evaluate, treat, and appropriately triage patients in a fast-paced urgent care environment.
Full time:
Monday through Friday, 12:00 pm - 8:30
PM Pay Range:
Salary:
$108,000 - $175,000 Key Responsibilities Clinical Care Evaluate and treat patients with acute orthopedic conditions including fractures, sprains/strains, dislocations, and joint injuries Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans Diagnostics & Procedures Order and interpret radiologic and laboratory studies Perform in-office procedures including: Casting, splinting, and bracing Care Coordination & Throughput Participate in patient triage and flow management to ensure efficient throughput Facilitate seamless transitions of care across the practice Treatment & Follow-Up Prescribe medications, therapies, and durable medical equipment as appropriate Initiate physical and occupational therapy Provide patient education and discharge instructions with appropriate follow-up Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with billing and regulatory requirements Adhere to all applicable NYSDOH, DEA, and CMS guidelines Collaboration & Support Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons and clinical teams Maintain readiness to escalate complex cases to higher levels of care Emergency Response Identify and manage urgent or emergent conditions Initiate emergency interventions, including CPR if required Coordinate transfer to emergency care when appropriate Qualifications Education & Licensure Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program Current New York State license (or eligibility) DEA certification required (or ability to obtain) Experience Prior experience in orthopedics, urgent care, emergency medicine, or acute care required Demonstrated proficiency in managing musculoskeletal injuries and conditions Skills & Competencies Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment Excellent patient communication and education skills Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to care
