Psych Nurse Practitioner Full-Time /Primary Location - Lake County Adult Detention Facility - must provide ANCC verification for psychiatric scope of practice Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner provides essential medical somatic services to adults with substance use disorders, including health assessments, medication management, and physical examinations. This role involves collaborating with physicians, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and ensuring thorough documentation of services provided. The Nurse Practitioner also plays a key role in staff training and supervision, fostering a professional and ethical environment while developing positive relationships with stakeholders to support client care. Duties & Responsibilities Provides comprehensive medical somatic services, including health assessments, medication evaluations, and medication management for clients. Conducts physical examinations for residential clients as needed and within scope of practice, ensuring their health and well-being. Prescribes, monitors, and reviews all treatment medications while providing comprehensive education on the benefits, risks, and alternatives of proposed treatments. Establishes and maintains an annual Standard Care Arrangement, collaborating effectively with designated physicians. Maintains clear and timely documentation of all services rendered in compliance with OMHAS standards, Ohio law, and agency policies and procedures. Practices within the scope of licensure and certification requirements set by the Ohio Board of Nursing, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Ensures the agency maintains compliance with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations. Trains, supervises, evaluates, disciplines and terminates subordinate staff, with the approval of the President & CEO. Upholds professional ethics and client confidentiality, including knowledge of client rights and grievance procedures. Obtains and maintains personal professional liability insurance to safeguard practice. Participates in peer reviews, utilization reviews, agency staff meetings, and scheduled in-service trainings. Ensures compliance with office policies and procedures, including client billing practices. Develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, including referral sources, community resources, insurance and managed care companies. Collaborates effectively with peers, subordinates, and clinical staff in a professional, team-oriented manner. Models appropriate and professional behaviors for both clients and staff, fostering a positive, supportive workplace culture. Maintains up-to-date licensure and certification in accordance with professional requirements. Perform other duties as assigned and documented by the supervisor to support program goals. Qualifications Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required. Must be licensed by the Ohio Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with a Certificate of Authority to practice as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. A Certificate to Prescribe (CTP) and DEA waiver for 100-275 patients are required. (condition of employment) Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce legible and accurate documentation. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and off-site locations, as scheduled. Minimum of 2 years in a personal recovery program, if applicable.
