A physician-led healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a small community hospital's overnight hospital medicine team. This is a full-time, fixed-night role offering a predictable seven-on/seven-off schedule, a stated hospitalist census of approximately 6-10 patients, and the opportunity to practice in a close-knit clinical environment. About the Role What you will do Provide adult inpatient hospital medicine coverage during the overnight shift. Evaluate new admissions and manage cross-cover needs within approved scope and privileges. Recognize clinical deterioration, initiate appropriate care, and escalate to physician or higher-level resources. Coordinate with nursing, emergency medicine, specialists, and the daytime hospitalist team. Complete accurate orders, documentation, medication reconciliation, and handoffs in the hospital EMR. Participate in orientation, credentialing, and ongoing quality/safety expectations. Qualifications Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant eligible for hospital privileges. Active Ohio license or client-approved pathway to obtain one. Post-graduate adult inpatient experience strongly preferred; hospital medicine, internal medicine, critical care, or closely related high-acuity experience is most relevant. Sound independent judgment, strong escalation instincts, and comfort working overnight. Ability to work seven consecutive 12-hour night shifts followed by seven days off. Required certifications and procedure competencies will be confirmed during the interview process. Required Skills Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Skills Experience in hospital medicine or critical care settings. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Pay range and compensation package $75-$80/hour base compensation. Negotiable sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. $1,500 annual CME allowance. License and DEA costs covered for full-time providers; credentialing fees covered.
