Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Duties Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status exams, and risk assessments to inform diagnosis and treatment strategies. Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, ensuring safe administration and monitoring for efficacy and side effects. Provide psychotherapy services utilizing evidence-based approaches tailored to individual patient needs. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, discharge planning, and case management for optimal patient outcomes. Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, medication management, and coping strategies to promote ongoing wellness. Maintain accurate and detailed medical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks, adhering to HIPAA regulations. Participate in clinical research initiatives or quality improvement projects aimed at advancing psychiatric care standards. Requirements Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with valid state licensure and national certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Demonstrated experience in behavioral health, including working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care is preferred. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for documentation and patient management. Knowledge of psychopharmacology, medication administration protocols, and safety monitoring procedures. Strong communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration. Ability to perform physical examinations, vital signs assessment, and basic life support (BLS) certification is required. Experience working in diverse settings such as outpatient clinics, inpatient units, or assisted living facilities is highly desirable. Familiarity with diagnostic evaluation tools including ICD-10 coding standards; experience with telehealth platforms is a plus.
