Our skilled team of therapists need another APRN specializing in children—in helping children to feel better and live more fulfilling lives. While adults often struggle to manage the many challenges of daily life, young people face many of these same difficulties without always having the words to express their needs or the experience to navigate complex situations on their own. WCT is a busy Behavioral Health & Medication Management practice, based in Waterbury, CT is looking to add Psychiatric APRNs to join our team to provide independent mental health evaluations and care to our clients. As a growing practice including therapists and APRNs, we are looking to support our clients with their physical health needs to continue to grow our mission to help our clients strengthen their minds. We have openings currently in our Westport, Brookfield, Waterbury, and Bristol locations. Spanish speaking preferred. Some of the responsibilities of this position include: Performs medical examinations and evaluations, diagnoses, treatment, follow-up, and consultation Assesses patient status by obtaining health history through patient/family interviews and chart reviews Orders / performs appropriate laboratory, diagnostic, and other screening tests Integrates data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan, including identification of any health risks Develops and implements treatment plan by prescribing/dispensing medications and/or injections in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws; instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments Educates patients regarding health promotion / illness prevention Collaborates with physicians and therapists in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patient. Duties Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including patient history, mental status exams, and risk assessments to inform diagnosis and treatment strategies. Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitor patient responses, and adjust treatments as needed in accordance with state regulations. Provide evidence-based psychotherapy interventions and support patients through individual or group therapy sessions. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic care plans. Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, medication management, and coping techniques to empower self-care. Document all clinical encounters accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks while adhering to HIPAA privacy standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research projects, and staff training to enhance service delivery. Skills Proven experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those in assisted living or hospice settings. Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications, psychopharmacology, and medication administration protocols. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for efficient documentation and patient management. Excellent clinical assessment skills with the ability to perform physical examinations when necessary. Ability to handle acute care situations such as crisis intervention or triage in inpatient or outpatient settings. Experience with telehealth platforms to provide remote psychiatric services effectively. Knowledge of behavioral health standards including NCQA standards and familiarity with Workers' Compensation law for occupational health cases.
