We are grounded in trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and person-centered care. Our team supports clients with a broad range of mental health needs, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use, and psychotic disorders. Job Summary H4Y is seeking ethical, licensed, and collaborative Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) to provide high-quality outpatient psychiatric services. The PMHNP delivers comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, health education, and coordination of care for clients with complex behavioral health needs. The role works in close partnership with therapists, case managers, and care coordinators to ensure integrated care across systems. This position allows for hybrid service delivery (in-office and telehealth) and offers a flexible schedule, ongoing clinical support, and mission-aligned collaboration. Core Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental status examinations Provide evidence-based medication management services Integrate mental and physical health data into treatment planning in collaboration with clinical teams Educate clients about medications, diagnoses, and holistic treatment options Review and update treatment plans regularly to maintain alignment with care goals Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EHR (TherapyNotes) Monitor client engagement and support crisis response protocols as needed Follow state-specific psychiatric care regulations and adhere to Joint Commission, COMAR, and Medicaid standards Competency Requirements 1. Psychiatric Assessment and Diagnosis Demonstrates accuracy in diagnosing behavioral health disorders Appropriately applies screening tools and clinical judgment 2. Medication Management and Education Prescribes safely and in line with current psychopharmacological best practices Explains side effects, interactions, and self-monitoring techniques clearly to clients 3. Trauma-Informed and Culturally Responsive Care Maintains awareness of how trauma, racism, and systemic oppression affect symptoms and care Applies a culturally responsive lens to medication and treatment planning 4. Documentation and Compliance Completes documentation in a timely, clear, and compliant manner Meets H4Y, Medicaid, and licensing board standards for quality and accuracy 5. Team Collaboration and Communication Works collaboratively with therapists, care managers, and supervisors Contributes to interdisciplinary care planning and communicates recommendations clearly 6. Technology and Telehealth Proficiency Navigates EHR systems (TherapyNotes), CRISP, and e-prescribing platforms Uses secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms with professionalism Education and Licensure Requirements Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Psychiatric/Mental Health specialization Active and unencumbered PMHNP license from the Maryland Board of Nursing Active and unencumbered PMHNP license from the District of Columbia Board of Nursing (licensure in both Maryland and DC is required at hire) DEA registration with authority to prescribe psychiatric medications Willingness to become credentialed with the commercial and Medicaid payers H4Y bills, and to maintain an active CAQH profile in support of that process Required Experience and Skills At least 3 years of clinical experience in outpatient psychiatry or community mental health preferred Familiarity with trauma-informed care, person-centered planning, and co-occurring disorders Strong clinical reasoning, cultural humility, and attention to documentation standards Intermediate proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and electronic medical records Malpractice insurance coverage required (independently held or supported by H4Y) Optional Supervisory Responsibilities May supervise nurses, psychiatric interns, or clinical students depending on scope and credentialing Additional Expectations Completion of a writing sample during the interview process Creation and maintenance of a Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH) profile Completion of payer credentialing and enrollment for all networks H4Y bills to, with H4Y support Enrollment in CRISP for care coordination and prescription monitoring Participation in relevant CEUs, professional organizations, or psychiatry networks is encouraged Familiarity with community-based mental health resources and crisis services Compensation and Benefits Compensation is negotiable and discussed during the interview process, based on experience, employment type (full-time, part-time, or contract), and service volume Flexible scheduling options, including four-day work weeks Clinical supervision and peer consultation $200/year professional training stipend Reimbursement for professional licensure fees (MD and DC) How to Apply Submit a resume and cover letter to with the subject line: "PMHNP Application - [Your Full Name]."
