Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our expanding Neurosurgery team in Rapid City, SD. This role is open to experienced providers as well as new graduates or early-career APPs—comprehensive training will be provided for candidates with a strong clinical foundation and a commitment to surgical care.
Core responsibilities:
Perform hospital rounds, consults, and post-operative follow-ups under neurosurgeon supervision First-assist in neurosurgical procedures in the OR Perform and assist with bedside procedures within scope of practice Manage clinic patients, including pre- and post-operative evaluations and conservative treatment plans Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, surgical care, and follow-up Collaborate with neurosurgeons, nursing staff, and other specialists to promote optimal patient outcomes Accurately document patient encounters and procedures in the EMR Participate in shared call coverage as part of a team rotation Required qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program Current or eligible for South Dakota licensure BLS and ACLS required (or ability to obtain prior to start) Surgical or neurology/neurosurgery experience preferred but not required—training available Strong communication, organization, and critical thinking skills Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and hands-on environment Location highlights: Located in the foothills of the Black Hills, Rapid City combines a low cost of living with abundant outdoor recreation and a welcoming community.
