A Nurse Practitioner provides primary care and nursing care to patients. Performs physical exams, orders diagnostic tests, and provides medications. Works in a physician's office or other healthcare facility, under the direction of a physician. Performs work similar to that of a physician assistant but has different medical training and degree.
$75 per hour + $1,246 weekly travel stipends (if applicable) Payroll is processed on a biweekly basis.

We are seeking an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the outpatient team at an Indian Health Service (IHS) facility in Rosebud, SD. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive primary care services across the lifespan while supporting an underserved community through preventive care, chronic disease management, wellness services, and acute outpatient treatment.
Requirements:
MSN, DNP, or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (CCNE or ACEN accredited) Current national certification (FNP, AGNP, or appropriate specialty) through ANCC or AANPCB Current, active, unrestricted NP license in any U.S. state or territory DEA Registration with Schedule II V authority Current BLS certification (AHA or equivalent) Minimum of 1 year of Nurse Practitioner experience Experience in rural health, FQHC, IHS, Tribal, or underserved communities preferred Strong knowledge of chronic disease management, preventive care, and evidence-based practice guidelines Ability to meet IHS credentialing and background requirements
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive primary care services for adult, pediatric, and adolescent patients in an outpatient setting Conduct patient assessments, physical examinations, diagnoses, treatment planning, and follow-up care Manage acute and chronic conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, mental health concerns, and preventive health needs Order, interpret, and act upon laboratory, diagnostic, and screening test results Perform wellness exams, preventive screenings, immunizations, and health maintenance visits according to current clinical guidelines Evaluate and treat common acute illnesses and injuries while determining when specialty referral or higher levels of care are required Perform minor office procedures within scope of practice and facility privileges Provide patient education on disease prevention, medication management, lifestyle modifications, and health promotion Coordinate care with physicians, behavioral health providers, nursing staff, social services, and specialty providers Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record and support quality improvement initiatives and IHS performance measures Deliver culturally sensitive, patient-centered care while supporting the health needs of Native American communities
