Job Description

About Us:
Shannon Medical Center is the leading healthcare provider in San Angelo, TX, offering a range of medical services and specialties, including Neonatology. We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Neonatology Nurse Practitioner to join our growing team. Our NICU is a Level II unit with plans to transition into a Level III NICU, providing an excellent opportunity for career growth and development in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Position Overview:
The Neonatology Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be an integral part of the NICU team, providing comprehensive care for critically ill and premature infants. You will work collaboratively with neonatologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver the highest standard of care to our newborn patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide care to neonates in the NICU, including those requiring intensive and specialized care. Perform comprehensive physical exams, order diagnostic tests, and interpret results. Develop and implement individualized care plans for newborns. Assist in delivery room resuscitations and newborn assessments. Support and educate families regarding their infants' conditions and care plans. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care. Maintain up-to-date documentation and charting for all patient interactions.
Schedule:
10 shifts per month, additional shifts available to pick up if desired
Facility Details:
4-NICUbeds, 10 IMC beds newly renovated Women's and Children's Hospital Plans for transitioning to a Level
III NICU
to enhance the scope of services and expand neonatal care. Physician Staffed through Pediatrix. Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Texas (or eligible for licensure). Board certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP). Previous experience in a Level II or Level
III NICU
is highly preferred. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
