Job Description

We are seeking a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner to provide full-time inpatient cardiology coverage in Mechanicsville, VA. This locum opportunity is ideal for an experienced Cardiology NP who is confident working independently in collaboration with an Interventional Cardiologist.
Position highlights Start date:
September 8, 2026
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:30
PM Setting:
100% inpatient; adult and geriatric patient population Typical daily census: ~10-15+ patients (volume dependent)
EMR:
Epic Trauma level: None Call coverage First-call responsibility on assigned weeknights and weekends Call ratio: approximately 1:3 to 1:4 Average callback response time: ~2 hours Key responsibilities Independently evaluate and manage inpatient cardiology patients alongside an Interventional Cardiologist Perform new patient assessments and routine follow-up visits Conduct daily rounding, formulate and implement treatment plans, and manage ongoing care Coordinate discharge planning and transitions of care Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in Epic Communicate effectively with patients, families, consultants, and the interdisciplinary care team Serve as first-call cardiology provider during assigned call periods Requirements Board-certified Nurse Practitioner Active Virginia NP license Current ACLS and BLS certifications Active DEA registration This role offers a structured weekday schedule with meaningful clinical autonomy and collaborative support from interventional cardiology colleagues.
