Job Description
Academic Medicine Environment:

Manage a diverse caseload spanning acute, intermediate, and chronic hematologic oncology and transplant conditions.Strong Team Culture:

Schedule & Hours Three weekends per month in the Cancer Center Infusion Center- 8‑hour day-shift sessions Two weekday inpatient shifts (12 hours each) on the Cellular Therapy/SCT APP service (Monday-Friday) Day-shift position with no overnight responsibilities Structured four‑month onboarding program prior to full clinical integration Additional Details APPs in this role independently manage patients while working closely with attending hematologists and the broader interdisciplinary team.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program.- Current NP or PA license in accordance with UVA/VA regulatory requirements.
- Eligibility for credentialing and privileging within UVA Health.
Preferred qualifications:
- Prior clinical experience in hematologic malignancies, cellular therapy, and/or stem cell transplantation (1-2 years preferred).
- Demonstrated proficiency in bone marrow biopsies, skin biopsies, and/or cellular infusion procedures.
- Experience managing high‑acuity oncology or immunocompromised patient populations.
- Advanced skill in interpreting diagnostic testing, including laboratory and imaging studies related to hematologic cancers.
- Experience monitoring and managing chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and associated toxicities.
- Prior experience in an academic medical center or multidisciplinary oncology care environment.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records; Epic experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient‑education skills, particularly in complex oncology and transplant care.
- Cancer Center Infusion Center (3 weekend day‑shift sessions per month)
- Inpatient Cellular Therapy / SCT Unit (two 12‑hour weekday shifts, Monday-Friday) Leadership Professionally lead and support other members of the care team in a dynamic clinical environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.Experience:
Department and unit specific.Licensure:
License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50- 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The starting base rate for this role is $116,123.00 annually.
